The veneer work done at the Crewe works generally has an excellent survival rate, and its longevity is a true testament to the craftsmen that produced it. The finish, on the other hand, yellows considerably and eventually cracks. This is especially true in hotter climates where the wood is subjected to intense UV's and hot/cold temperature extremes over a period of years.
Stripping and refinishing will bring back the original beauty and rich colour of your woodwork, while the modern finish contains more plasticizers to help it remain flexible and resist cracking.
In the case of veneer de-lamination or excessive moisture damage, I can re-veneer the affected parts, including book matching and edge banding as per original.
I do ask that all metal hardware, door seals, felt etc. be removed before sending in your woodwork--all except for the glove box lid latch and lock mechanism which can be left attached.
