The veneer work done at the Crewe works generally has an excellent survival rate, and its longevity is a true testament to the craftsmen that produced it. The finish, on the other hand, yellows and eventually cracks, especially in hotter climates where it's subjected to intense UV's and temperature extremes over a period of years. Stripping and refinishing will bring back the original beauty and rich colour of your wood veneer, while the modern finish contain more plasticizers to help it remain flexible and resist cracking.
Prices typically start at around $1900 USD to strip and refinish a full set of wood in say..an earlier Shadow or T2, (dash, door caps, console, vanities). Prices increase depending on model, specification and /or the extent of veneer repairs.
The RR inlays seen in the gallery below can be added at minimal extra cost. I do ask that all metal hardware be removed before sending in your woodwork--except for the glove box lid latch and lock mechanisms which can be left attached.
In the case of veneer de-lamination or excessive moisture damage, I can re-veneer the affected parts, including book matching and edge banding as per original. This typically adds 35% over the cost of refinishing alone.
